A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens Summary (Question and Answer)

Chapter Twenty-Two (A Tale of Two Cities)

Chapter 22

43) Where before have we come across Miss Pross’s brother, Solomon, and by what name did he go?

He had appeared as Barsad, a witness in the treason trial of Darnay at the Old Bailey in London.

44) Carton has some ‘very good cards’ to play against Barsad. What are they?

Carton knows that he had worked as an English spy, and is now working as a French spy. He also knows that he is still in contact with Cly, the other witness at the earlier treason trial, and still an English spy. If any of this were made common knowledge it would work against him.
