Chapter Three (The Witches by Roald Dahl)

Chap. 3 How to recognize a witch.
10 21 All witches have a very powerful sense of smell and hate the smell of children. How might a child hide their smell from a witch and why does this work? The cleaner a child the more it smells to a witch. Dirty children are less easy to smell, so a child should make sure that they haven’t bathed. Dirt blocks stink rays from escaping.
11 22 Why should you study the pupils of a woman you suspect to be a witch? The pupils will keep changing colour and you will see ice and fire dancing in the pupils.
12 24 Why will a witch wear pretty, pointed shoes? Witches have no toes; their feet are square which means that pointy shoes are very uncomfortable. They therefore always wear pointy shoes to hide the fact that they might be a witch.
13 25 What does a witch use instead of ink? Their spit. A witch has blue spit, so they just lick the nib of a pen and write with that.
